UAlbany Women’s Basketball Enters Conference Play Ranked #10 in Mid-Major Poll
College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25
ALBANY, N.Y. – The Great Danes will go into America East play as one of the top mid-major teams in the country, earning a #10 ranking in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Poll.
UAlbany has spent the last six weeks ranked as a top-10 mid-major, going as high as #4 in the poll after starting the season at #22. The team continues to be the highest-ranked America East school and top mid-major in the state of New York in the poll.
The team picked up 478 points in the voting. No other America East school earned a ranking in the mid-major poll. In-state rival Stony Brook received two points.
Undefeated San Diego is #1 in the poll with 30 out of 31 first-place votes and 768 points. In second is Gonzaga with 712 points. Three other New York teams are ranked: Marist, which UAlbany defeated in November, is at 15th, while Iona and St. Francis Brooklyn are at #21 and #25 respectively.
UAlbany will have two road games before the next poll comes out, taking on Vermont on Thursday and Hartford on Sunday.
