Wiegmann Named a Nominee for 2014 All State NABC Good Works Team

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Senior forward David Wiegmann was selected as a nominee for the 2014 All State NABC Good Works team by the national coaches group, the NABC announced on Tuesday morning.

The All State NABC Good Works team honors student-athletes across all divisions and levels of college basketball for their work in the community. This is the second year of the award.

Wiegmann is a 4.0 student with a concentration in human biology and a minor in neuroscience. He is a member of the Dean’s List of Distinguished Students, the Presidential Honor Society, the Tau Sigma National Honor Society and the University at Albany Dean’s List.

The senior volunteers his time at the Albany Bone and Joint Center, where he works in research and clinical observing. During his time at UAlbany he has worked with the Crohn’s Disease and Colitis Walk, Campus Clean-Up, Adopt-A-Family, “Light the Night,” the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk, Relay for Life and the Hurricane Sandy Relief effort.

On campus, Wiegmann works with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Executive Board, the Pre-Med Club, Doctors 4 Hope and the American Red Cross.

The senior forward has started three games this season, and is currently averaging 4.6 points per game as well as 4.9 rebounds per game.

Wiegmann is one of 75 Division I nominees for the All State NABC Good Works Team. A voting panel headlined by Grant Hill will select two 10-member teams. Each team will be made up of five Division I student-athletes and five from NCAA Division II, III and the NAIA. The final selection will be made in February. The members of the Good Works Team will travel to the 2014 NABC Convention in Dallas to perform community service and be honored at the 2014 Final Four.
