ALBANY, N.Y. – After adding one final dual to the fall schedule early last week, the University at Albany women’s golf team topped Niagara University by eight strokes Sunday afternoon at Albany Country Club. The Great Danes carded a 331 as a squad, while the Purple Eagles finished with a score of 339.
Graduate student Sam Schuffenecker boasted the top mark of the day, shooting an 80, while teammate Paige Fujihara finished just one stroke back, placing second with an 81. Junior Victoria Choi’s 84 also paced the Great Danes, tying for fourth overall.
Rounding out UAlbany’s contenders, freshman Nicolette Darois carded an 86 and senior Lisa Agoglia finished with an 87.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Colleen Cashman-McSween, UAlbany’s rising golf program experienced a number of encouraging highlights this fall, including a runner-up finish at the ECAC Championships, an eighth-place finish out of 20 teams at the Rutgers Invitational, and a dual victory to wrap up the season.
