Women’s Lacrosse Releases 2014 Schedule
2014 WOMEN’S LACROSSE SCHEDULE
ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany women’s lacrosse head coach John Battaglino and his staff released the 2014 Great Danes schedule on Tuesday, featuring three NCAA tournament teams from 2013.
“We continue to play one of the toughest schedules in the northeast,” said Battaglino. “We’re looking forward to a competitive line-up this season and can’t wait to get started.”
The Purple & Gold kick off the 2014 season with two games on the road at Bryant (Feb. 21) and at Manhattan (Feb. 26). The Bulldogs went 6-3 in the NEC last season, falling to Monmouth in the league championship game.
UAlbany opens its home slate against Quinnipiac on March 1 at John Fallon Field. The Great Danes then hit the road to face 2013 Ivy League Champion Dartmouth on March 8. Battaglino’s squad returns to Fallon Field to host St. Bonaventure (March 14) and Cornell (March 16) before spring break.
The Purple & Gold visit William & Mary on March 18 before hosting Hofstra on March 22 to ring in the return of students from spring break. Hofstra went 4-3 in the CAA before falling to Towson in the league championship game. The Great Danes visit Niagara on March 24.
UAlbany opens conference play with Binghamton on March 29. The Purple & Gold has never lost to the Bearcats since joining the America East.
The Great Danes face preseason No. 3 Syracuse at the Carrier Dome on April 1, followed by another road game at Vermont on April 5. Battaglino’s squad hosts league rival No. 12 Stony Brook on April 12 and Columbia on April 16.
The Purple & Gold conclude the regular season schedule at UMBC (April 19) and at New Hampshire (April 26). The America East tournament will take place May 1 & 3.
