Women’s Lacrosse Signee Alie Jimerson Awarded Tewaaraton Native American Scholarship

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Future University at Albany women’s lacrosse player Alie Jimerson was one of two recipients of the Tewaaraton Native America Scholarship presented by US Lacrosse, the foundation announced on Thursday night.

The prestigious $ 5,000 scholarship is awarded annually to one boy and one girl at the Tewaaraton awards ceremony to Native American high school lacrosse players headed to college. The honor is designed to recognize both athletic and academic achievement of high school lacrosse players in the Iroquois community. Applicants submit an application, and a selection committee of Tewaaraton Foundation members, lacrosse coaches, and members of the Native American community determine the winners. 

A member of the Cayuga Nation, Jimerson will join the Great Danes for the 2015 season out of Lake Shore Central High School. The attack/midfielder from Angola, N.Y., has notched 201 goals and 102 assists in her career and averages three goals per game. Jimerson was called up to the varsity ranks in the eighth grade. The Eagles have amassed a record of 64-19 (.771) in Jimerson’s five varsity seasons, and will take on Honeoye Falls-Lima in the NYSPHSAA Class C Regionals on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
