Women’s Tennis Drops Two at Princeton
NEWARK, N.J. – The University at Albany women’s tennis team (5-5) dropped matches against Princeton and Seton Hall over the weekend. The Great Danes now stand at 5-5 on the season and have lost three straight matches.
In the first match, Princeton (8-3) swept UAlbany 7-0. It was the first meeting between the two schools, and Princeton has now extended its winning streak to five.
UAlbany’s second match was closer, but the Great Danes succumbed to Seton Hall 4-3. The Pirates (5-4) won four of six singles matches to clinch victory. UAlbany doubles teams of Cheryl Kukkonen and Alba Sala (8-4), and Mireille Hermans and Paulina Torres (8-2) won their doubles matches. UAlbany earned singles victories on wins by Torres (7-5, 6-2) and Sala (6-1, 6-2).
Next weekend, UAlbany will host Fordam on Saturday, March 8 at 12:30 p.m.
