Women’s Tennis Earns No. 5 Seed in Upcoming America East Tournament

ALBANY, N.Y. – University at Albany women’s tennis garnered the No. 5 seed in this weekend’s America East Women’s Tennis Tournament at UMBC, and will face the host team in the quarterfinals on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Gordon Graham’s 2014 squad went 1-3 in regular season league play. UAlbany’s win came against No. 6 seed Hartford. UMBC went 0-1 in conference with a 4-3 loss to Binghamton, the No. 2 seed. The Great Danes are the No. 5 seed for the eighth time in nine years.

The No. 1 seed Stony Brook Seawolves and No. 2 seed Binghamton Bearcats earn a quarterfinal bye, and the winner of the Retrievers-Great Danes showdown faces Stony Brook on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

UAlbany earned a No. 2 seed in the 2013 America East Tournament, its highest all-time seed. The Great Danes went on to fall to Stony Brook in the title match.
