Women’s Tennis Faces Princeton and Seton Hall This Weekend

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women’s tennis team (5-3) will travel to Princeton, N.J., this weekend for matches against Princeton on Saturday and Seton Hall on Sunday.

Since the beginning of the spring semester, Princeton is 5-3, with victories over Temple, St. John’s, and Rutgers, as well as Dartmouth and Brown in the ECAC Championship earlier this month.  Two Princeton matches, against Fresno State and Washington State, were cancelled last weekend.  Seton Hall is 3-3 in the spring, with victories over Binghamton, Saint Peters, and NJIT.

UAlbany has compiled a record of 5-3 this season, with victories over Rhode Island, Siena, Hofstra, Marist, and Hartford.  The Great Danes are coming off a narrow defeat last weekend, when they visited Army and lost 4-3.  UAlbany won earned two doubles wins from the teams of Cheryl Kukkonen and Alba Sala (8-6), and Paulina Torres and Mireille Hermans (8-2).  Kukkonen won her singles match, 6-4, 0-6, 6-1.  Sala provided the remaining UAlbany victory, winning her singles match 6-0, 6-3.

UAlbany plays Princeton at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, and Seton Hall at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
